Frequently Asked Questions

1

Will Modifying the Exhaust on my 992.1 GT3 car void my warranty?

No. We have a number of Porsche Dealerships in the USA and Canada that purchase exhausts from us, and in almost 10 years, there have been no issues with Warranty coverage.

2

What are Dundon Headers made from?

Dundon has its own dyno cell to measure the car’s performance, which we can use as much as we like until we’re happy with the performance! This is why Dundon is one of the few GT car exhaust manufacturers that makes power. All we do is GT Porsches, so we know them best!

3

What are Dundon Headers made from?

Dundon Headers are made from 321 stainless steel.  This was chosen for its better high-temperature corrosion resistance (yes, 304 rusts from the inside out in exhaust applications). 321 provides superior fitment due to less stress in the material during welding from 321’s greater high temperature performance.

4

Do Dundon 992 Street Headers include Valves and Catalysts?

Yes!  Dundon Street Headers come complete with Valves and Catalysts included in the price, as well as all hardware and gaskets you need (you reuse the stock exhaust manifold gaskets).  Be sure when comparing to other companies products that you include headers, valves and catalysts in the comparison for pricing…

5

What are your Mufflers made from?

Dundon uses 3 different materials for rear mufflers.

Lifetime Mufflers use 321 Stainless steel.

Mini Cracks and Crack Pipes use Inconel for light weight and thin wall specs.

Ultralight Ti Mufflers are carefully designed and constructed of Titanium for lightweight and higher pitched sound.  Our Titanium mufflers have a fully  internally reinforced design, with careful attention paid to fabricating without oxidizing the Titanium.  (colors are oxidation, yes rainbows are pretty, but you don’t want to see rainbow welds on your exhaust!).

6

Do Dundon 992 Street Header exhaust packages drone?

If you want Drone free cruising, you need a muffler.  Drone comes from a frequency in the exhaust that excites the air in the cabin of the car to resonate (think of a speaker box).  If you want to avoid drone you need to change the frequency, this is why we keep valves on our exhausts, as the way you change the frequency is to push the exhaust through a smaller, longer tube (like a pipe organ) so that you move the frequency away from the resonant frequency.

Mini Crack pipes drone a bit

Full Crack Pipes Drone a lot.

7

What exhaust system is best for me?

You first have to ask how you will use the car:  Only used on Track with no sound restrictions?  Taking Grandma to Brunch?  Live in a Condo with many “Karen’s”  Choose to ensure you can live with it.

Street Headers are the basis of all of our exhaust choices, from there you need to decide what muffler you want to run

Lifetime Loud Muffler:  Great scream with a little more bass at idle

Inconel Mini Crack:  More volume, some drone and an RSR race car scream at high RPM

Ultralight Titanium Muffler:  Great Scream, Higher pitch (or lack of low frequencies)

Add Loud Inserts for Mini crack level of loud but still with no drone during cruise.

8

Do You Make Quiet Tips to meet sound restricted Track dB requirements?

If you need to pass sound at your local tracks, we offer quiet tips for occasional use that offer 7-8dB sound reduction.

9

How do Dundon Headers Make Power?

Pressure Waves and harnessing the strength and timing of the waves as they go down the tube, expand and reflect back to the head.  “Flow” and “Backpressure” are words used by people who don’t know what they’re doing

10

Do Dundon Intakes for 992 GT3 Make Power?

Yes and lots of it!  Please check the individual kits for specifics, but some combinations make as much as 70+whp!

11

Do you sell replacement filters for your intakes?

Yes we do!

12

Will Dundon 3-way dampers hurt the quality of my 992 ride on the street?

Not at all, in fact your street ride will improve with the Dundon-specific valving used in our custom MCS 3-way kits. Supple, supported and more grip!

13

I drive my 992 GT3 on the street and on the track, should I have a track alignment or a street alignment?

The tires wear significantly more at the track than they do on the street.  This is why we generally will recommend a track alignment for most cars that are tracked (this also covers mountain carving cars).  Unless you’re commuting 1000’s of miles between track days then you will have more wear from the track than you will from the street.

14

Will Dundon suspension arms make my 992 gt3 loud and clunky like a cup car?

No way!  There will be a little bit more noise when you remove the rubber from your suspension, but it won’t make the car loud and clunky.
