I NEED HELP TO DECIDE

Product Description

The 991 Carrera/S/4S/GTS is a great car, but the factory suspension has almost no adjustability, leaving you a very narrow range of available settings. Our suspension arm packages really open things up, allowing you to get a "proper" alignment on the car for better tire wear, improved handling, sharper steering feel and a better driving experience!

Our meticulously designed and carefully curated suspension packages are built to give you the improvement and adjustment you need.

These packages will allow for a precise and accurate alignment with a wide range of camber, toe and caster settings. They also remove rubber from the suspension system, improving steering feel and turning your 911 into a razor-sharp, corner-carving monster!

FAQ

What is the purpose of extended-length tie rod ends?

Extended-length tie rod ends are designed to accommodate increased negative camber in high-performance Porsche GT models. When negative camber is added, the wheels move farther apart, increasing the distance between the steering rack and the knuckle. Standard tie rod ends may not have enough thread engagement at extreme camber settings, which can lead to unsafe conditions. Extended tie rod ends provide safe and full thread engagement, ensuring proper steering function.

What Porsche models require extended tie rod ends?

These extended tie rod ends are compatible with most modern Porsche GT models, including:
• 991 GT3
• 981 GT4
• 718 GT4
• 992 GT3
• GT3 RS (except for the 992 GT3 RS, which already has sufficiently long tie rods)

The 992 GT3 RS does not require them because Porsche designed the stock tie rods long enough to accommodate aggressive suspension settings.

How do extended tie rod ends impact steering feel?

Extended tie rod ends themselves do not significantly change steering feedback. However, they ensure proper alignment when adjusting camber and toe settings. Without them, the car could become unstable due to insufficient thread engagement, creating potential safety hazards.

Can using extended tie rod ends affect my alignment settings?

Yes, they provide greater flexibility in alignment settings by allowing for a wider range of toe adjustment. This helps prevent drivers from being locked into unsafe or suboptimal toe settings due to stock tie rods having insufficient threads.

Why is titanium used instead of aluminum or steel?

Titanium offers several advantages over aluminum and steel:
• Higher strength-to-weight ratio, making it strong but lightweight.
• Corrosion resistance, ensuring durability in different weather conditions.
• Minimal cost difference compared to aluminum, making it a practical choice for high-performance applications.

What is the expected lifespan of these tie rod ends?

The lifespan is similar to stock tie rod ends, but driving conditions play a role. The FK stainless Teflon-coated ball joint used in these tie rods is the highest-grade part available, offering long-lasting durability. If the car is used in normal conditions (weekend drives, track days, mountain roads), they should last a long time. However, exposure to road salt, dirt, and extreme conditions can accelerate wear.

Can extended tie rod ends void my car’s warranty?

In most cases, no. These tie rod ends are a like-for-like replacement rather than a major suspension modification. However, if you experience any issues, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer first instead of expecting a Porsche dealership to cover aftermarket parts under warranty.

Do these tie rod ends require special tools for installation?

No, they do not require special tools beyond those commonly used for suspension work. However, professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with suspension adjustments. Installing suspension parts incorrectly can lead to unsafe driving conditions.

Are there any maintenance requirements?

No special maintenance is required. Treat them like any other suspension component by periodically checking for wear and ensuring that all bolts and nuts remain properly torqued.

What happens if I don’t use extended tie rod ends when increasing negative camber?

If you add extreme negative camber without extended tie rod ends, you may end up with only a few threads engaged in the tie rod, which is highly unsafe. This could lead to failure of the tie rod, loss of steering control, and potential accidents. Extended tie rod ends eliminate this risk by providing sufficient thread engagement at all camber settings.
